The Roadmap

Here is how Seymour explains it:

“Now that you have graduated from Fashion Design School, or have just made the decision to take your clothing design dreams and make something real out of them, you are ready for my consulting expertise.

Think of what I have to offer you as a post-graduate immersion experience.

I have been in the garment manufacturing business for over 40 years.

I have seen it all. Done it all. Been through it all. And I’m here to tell you the story. The total story of what you will need, what it takes, and what to be on the look out for to successfully turn your inspiration and ideas into a moneymaking business. Let me first tell you that it is not easy. Each year, good times or bad, thousands and thousands of bright, inspired fashion entrepreneurs make the bold leap that you are now considering. In fact, there are more of you now than ever!

Some make it. Most don’t

What I am offering you is a roadmap for what lies ahead. If you have a diploma in hand, that’s important. You have worked hard, learned much and earned it. But what you have is like passing your driving exam, you now have a license, you know how to drive. But you are about to take a cross-country trip. Don’t you want a map? Wouldn’t it be great to know what lies ahead?

And if you don’t have a diploma, but are brave and bold enough to want to venture out with an idea and inspiration plus the belief and will that you can succeed, wouldn’t it be ever so useful to have a map to make the future not quite so unknown? I can greatly increase your chances of “making it” by sharing my experiences, wisdom, and love of the business.

After all, fifty some odd years later, I am still in love with the business.

Some of my clients are the biggest names in clothing: companies such as Levi, Nike, Talbots and LL Bean. Some of my clients have been or are the most successful entrepreneurs in the business: companies such as Joe Boxer, Chi Pants, Jagged Edge, Bonobos, and My Hip T.

I am not going to tell you what to design or what the trends are, that is your expertise. I am going to give you the timeless information of how to start up your business; how to put your design into production; how to deal with contractors; what to be aware of in the process that goes from your design, through patterns and grading, sourcing, cutting, sewing, inventorying and finally, navigating through the shark infested waters of the reseller.

You will end your time with me gaining the resources and the confidence to go out and start building your own business. Something important to know, people will give you advice as to fit, style, etc, etc, etc. Listen to them very politely, thank them for their advice, but take it with a grain of salt.

Here are three priceless pearls of business acumen that form part of the canon of my wisdom
            “Keep it simple”
            “Price means nothing”
            “Crazy ideas can wildly succeed”

When we meet, I will go over these ideas and more as I share with you the distilled wisdom from all my years in business.

It takes a huge amount of bravery to undertake what you are considering. I know that I can greatly increase the odds of you winning.

Till we talk in person, I wish you the best in all you strive toward.”
